Founded 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa the Globe Machinery Company first produced farming equipment and milking machines used on dairy farms. Globe eventually shifted much of its production to auto lifts and changed its name to the Globe Hoist Company as the population of cars increased in the United States. Globe grew rapidly and for a long period was the largest single auto lift manufacturer in the world. Globe operated its first two manufacturing plants in Des Moines, IA and Philadelphia, PA. Later both of the original plants were closed and new state of the art facilities in Salisbury, MD and Long Beach, CA were opened. Globe had the country and the world covered and nearly every automotive service facility employed or still employs the use of a Globe lift.
In Globe’s later years it was owned by a succession of companies that included among others Symington Wayne and Dresser Industries. Globe was responsible for many innovations and is credited to have developed the first surface mount four post auto lift. In addition to its strength in both the heavy duty and passenger vehicle lift market, Globe had an impressive line of specialty industrial lifts ranging from the Lumber Stacker to Electro-Loader models. Globe definitely offered the world’s most complete line of lifts.

Note: While some were made in the United States, many of the Globe 2 and 4 post surface mount lifts were imported products from Japan, Canada, Texas and China – SVI has parts for these models too. So if you own an AFO-7 from Canada, A-25K from Texas or an AFF-7071 from Japan don’t hesitate to contact SVI for help. Your Globe lifts can be repaired. Don’t replace, repair them.
